The Health & Wellness tent will be located on Grand Avenue between 12th & 13th Street. Thus, we will be playing on pavement.
This is where the main CelebrAsian event is being held - lots of entertainment, food and activities. If you are curious about what this Asian festival is all about, click on the following link: http://www.iowaasianalliance.com/about-celebrasian/. An estimated 70,000 to 80,000 people attended last year over the two day event.
Tournament Fees: $10 Entry fee. Nice Trophies for top 3 places in each event. Women may sign up for two events ($10 each tournament). Men may only sign up for one tournament Beginner/Intermediate or Advanced. All entrants must complete and sign a waiver form.
Deadline to Sign-up: May 26.
Please note that this entire tournament will be held at the CelebrAsian event being held downtown, Des Moines at Western Gateway Park. If the weather is really nice and little to no wind, we could play outside, but most likely we will be playing the tournaments in the Health and Wellness tent which will provide protection against the elements (rain and wind). Although downtown will be very busy these two days, free parking will be available at the Nationwide Parking Ramp on 11th &12th Walnut Street, Des Moines.
As we will be limited to approximately 4 tables, the number of players is limited. In addition, two of the tournaments will be held on Friday, May 27 - (Beginner/Intermediate are together - one tournament) & Women's. On Saturday, only the Advanced tournament will be held with the finals match being played on the main stage (weather permitting) in front of a potentially thousands of spectators. There will be open play, before and after the tournaments for the public.
