Hi All,
This tournament will be held at the Rockwell Rec Center in Cedar Rapids, IA on Saturday, June 28. We will have various Singles events based on your RTT rating. If you do not have a RTT rating, then your USATT rating will be used. If you don't have either RTT or USATT rating, then we will look at your RatingsCentral rating. If you do not have a RTT, USATT, or RatingsCentral ratings, then we would require a coach's recommendation of your current rating (If we know you well, we can provide the rating for you as well).
For those who have never enjoyed the Rockwell Tournament experience, I have attached a picture from our previous tournament onto this email. It is a perfect picture to advertise to all of you because it shows how our setup looks like, and it shows the amazing diversity of the contestants (As you can see from the picture, males and females took part. "Players in their teens contested matches with players in their fifties and sixties, and physical stature varied from player to player. Most incredible is where the players started their journeys of life. Participants were born in Bosnia, Canada, China, France, India, United States, Ukraine and Vietnam" - Bill Schwarz)
The registration fees described in this email refer to the early-bird registration fees. Early-bird registration deadline is June 13, 2014 11:59 PM.
After the early bird registration deadline, the fees for ALL events will increase by $5, so please register early! The tentative final registration deadline is currently set to June 20, 2014, and the draws are set to be released on June 23, 2014 (tentative).
Full refunds are permitted up until the final registration deadline date, which is currently set as June 20, 2014 (tentative).
Equipment/Venue:
- 40 mm Orange Nittaku Premium 3-Star Balls will be used (Orange clothing is not permitted)
- 5 Stiga Table Tennis Tables (3 of which have only been used for one month).
- Played on Basketball Court with great grip and lighting for your feet and eyes respectively.
- Vending Machines, Water Fountains, Locker Rooms available on-site.
- Many hotels nearby to accommodate you.
We are introducing a Singles event for Beginners as we are attempting to promote table tennis to new players in Iowa and the Midwest.

Schedule + Fees + Awards:
1) Open Singles (11:30 AM - 2 PM) - Entry Fee: $40 ($30 for players with RTT rating under 1700) - Prize Money: 200/120/80/40 (Guaranteed if 12 players sign up)
2) U-1700 or U-1750 or U-1800 Singles (2 PM - 4:30 PM) - Entry Fee: $30 ($20 for players with RTT rating under 1500) - Prize Money: 80/40/20/20 (Guaranteed if 12 players sign up)
3) U-1500 Singles (9:30 AM - 11:30 AM) - Entry Fee: $25 ($15 for players with RTT rating under 1000)
4) U-1000 (Beginner) Singles (8 AM - 10 AM) - Entry Fee: $15
5) Open Doubles (4:30 PM - 6 PM) - Entry Fee: $10/player
Note: It is possible that we will split Open Doubles into two divisions - this depends on the number of teams that sign up and the level of the players on those teams.
Note: Trophies are awarded to the top three places of each Singles event. Medals are awarded to both players on the team for the top three places of each Doubles event.
Note: You are allowed to sign up for as many events as you want, as long as you meet the rating requirements of each event.
Note: Singles will have round robin play where top 2 players in each round robin group will advance to the knockout stage. Doubles will only have elimination matches (knockout stage). All matches will be best 3 out of 5 sets.
Note: $5 discount applied to the tournament for those who are Rockwell Rec Center members (You must sign up for at least one Singles event to be able to obtain this discount).
Note: The tournament committee reserves the right to change tournament details. If any changes occur, the participants will be informed of such changes immediately.

Please remember that our goal is to provide solid tournaments and to increase awareness of table tennis in Iowa and the Midwest. If you have any feedback with any part of our tournament process, please let us know right away! We love hearing negative constructive feedback (even though we hope there is not any), because that lets us know where we need to improve.
p.s. Tables will be set up the night before the tournament, so they will be ready as soon as you come in Saturday morning. Please check-in 15 minutes prior to starting time of your event.
